Tips for Planning an Outdoor Wedding in Las Vegas

Is an outdoor wedding in Las Vegas a good option? Las Vegas is known for it's sunny weather. With an average of nearly 300 days of sunshine a year and tons of lush landscaping and spectacular mountain views, yes, Las Vegas is an ideal location for an outdoor wedding. If you want to plan outdoor nuptials in the Wedding Capital of the World, there are a few things that you may want to take into consideration first.
Here are some helpful tips to help you plan an outdoor wedding in Las Vegas:
1. Consider the Weather and the Time of Year
Although Las Vegas is sunny, it is also very hot in the summer months. If you plan a outdoor wedding in Las Vegas during the summer months of June, July, and August, be sure to avoid the middle of the day when the mercury can soar to 110 °
F or more. If you must plan an outdoor affair during the summer months in Las Vegas, make it early in the morning before the heat of the day sets in or around sunset when temperatures begin to cool slightly.
An ideal place for an outdoor wedding in the Las Vegas area during the summer is up on Mount Charleston. Summer temperatures there are usually in the 80's during the summer and the scenery on the mountain is breathtaking.
Likewise, the winter months in Las Vegas can be cold. Because it is the desert, many people think Las Vegas is warm all winter long. This is not the case. Las Vegas is located in the Mojave Desert and is at an elevation of about 2100 feet so it can and does sometimes get cold in the winter. In the eight years that I lived in Las Vegas, I saw it snow a handful of times. The good thing about snow in Las Vegas is that it doesn't last long. As soon as the sun comes out, you can guarantee that it will melt fast. Take this into consideration if you are planning an outdoor wedding in Las Vegas and plan to have the wedding between noon and 5:00 p.m. (which is the earliest the sun will set in the winter).
2. Have a Back Up Plan
When choosing a outdoor wedding location in Las Vegas, find out what they do if it rains on your wedding day. Do they have an indoor location available that the wedding can be moved to in case of rain or high winds?
3. Find a Location that Meets your Needs
There are a lot of outdoor wedding locations in Las Vegas so you should have no problem finding one that fits the vision you have for your dream wedding location. From golf courses to gardens and lakeside locales to mountains and canyons, Las Vegas has more lush, scenic, and breathtaking outdoor wedding locations than you would expect to find in the middle of the desert.
